Areas of Expertise:

  • entomology
  • strawberry
  • raspberry
  • blueberry
  • cranberry
  • integrated pest management
  • pheromone
  • horticulture
  • small fruits
  • Develop knowledge base from which integrated pest management (IPM) techniques, expecially those involving pheromones, can be created and improved
  • Develop pheromone-based strategies for monitoring and control of key pests of cranberry, blueberry, raspberry and strawberry
  • Integrate pheromone-based strategies with other IPM strategies, such as physical, cultural and biological control
  • Inform and educate those involved in producing, using and regulating pheromones for IPM

Current Projects:

  • Ecology and Integrated Pest Management of Cranberry Girdler - (research results will help to minimize yield losses due to cranberry girdler).
  • Provide information on the behavior and dispersion of insect and mite pests and their natural enemies
  • Develop reduced risk technologies and BMPs for management of insect and mite pests of berry crops
  • Ecology and integrated pest management of cranberry girdler - (finish experiments)
