Note: Mexico requires that Canadian canary seed under quarantine is free of weed seeds. When a shipment arrives to the Mexican border, SENASICA inspectors take a 1 kg sample size for analysis. If no weed seeds are found, the shipment is allowed to be imported. If a maximum of 15 weed seeds are found in the sample, the load is allowed to be re-cleaned at a SENASICA approved facility, to allow further importation. If there are over 15 weed seeds found in the sample, the load is rejected and must be returned or destroyed.

Note: Under the CPTPP, Mexico has established permanent annual TRQs and/or preferential import duties for milk powder for CPTPP members. Milk powder was excluded from tariff preference under NAFTA. Mexico also has a TRQ in place under the WTO that allows annual duty-free imports of 80,000 tonnes of skim milk powder every year from WTO member countries (including Canada). However, to make use of the said TRQs, the Mexican importer needs to have a permit from the Mexican Ministry of Economy.
