Agriculture and food market intelligence – Mexico

Mexico represents Canada's 4th market on an individual country basis for agri-food and seafood products with exports of $1.7 billion in 2015, most of which is made up of wheat, canola, beef, pork, frozen fries and canary seed. Mexico is a market of over 127 million people, the tenth largest population in the world. Mexico's agri-food and seafood imports have consistently exceeded $25 billion in imports over the past five years and Canada's share has around 7%. Canada's agri-food and seafood export to Mexico have increased by nearly 60% over the past decade and two way trade has nearly doubled reaching $3.9 billion in 2015. Some great opportunities for Canadian businesses continue to be developed.
