Mexico, followed by Canada, France, China, and Italy were the top five exporting nations of agri-foods and seafood into the U.S. in 2019. Canada has traditionally been the U.S.'s largest import partner in this sector, peaking in 2002 at a market share of 22.2%. While Mexico overtook Canada as the U.S.'s leading supplier in 2017, Canada has remained the 2nd largest source for agri-food and seafood goods. Despite this, Canadian control of the U.S. import market has fallen to its lowest numbers since 1991, where it dipped to 15.6%. 2018 saw the country's exports to the United States slump to 16.6% and 16.7% in 2019.

From 2015 to 2019, Mexico saw the largest gains in market share with a percent point (PP) difference of 2.6%. China saw the largest drop with a PP difference of 1.5%. During this period Mexico and France had the highest surge in CAGRs with a growth rate of 8.7% and 8.5%, respectively. China was the only nation in the top ten suppliers from the world to see a decrease with a CAGR of −4.2%. Reflecting these changes during the 5 year duration, Mexico saw the largest increase in value of exports into the U.S. at 39.8%, whereas China saw the largest drop, falling 15.7%.
