Value Chain Roundtables

The Value Chain Roundtables (VCRTs) were launched in 2003 as part of a shared vision between industry and government to enhance Canadian competitiveness and profitability. Roundtables bring together federal/provincial/territorial policy makers with industry leaders from across the value chain, including input suppliers, producers, processors, food service industries, retailers, traders and associations.

How Value Chain Roundtables work

The VCRTs are sector-specific groups jointly led by industry and government. Members include industry leaders and federal departments such as Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Global Affairs Canada and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Roundtables set their priorities, objectives, and long-term strategies based on research, analysis and a shared understanding of the marketplace.
