Agricultural Greenhouse Gases Program: Step 1. What this program offers
The application period for the Agricultural Greenhouse Gases Program is closed. The program ends on March 31, 2021.
Canadian farmers are an important part of the climate change solution. The Government of Canada recognizes that Canada's agricultural lands have significant potential to sequester carbon, reduce greenhouse gases and realize other environmental benefits through actions such as the adoption of beneficial farm management practices.
With this in mind, a new initiative will be established to support the sector's actions on climate change and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Details on the new initiative will be available soon.
Step 1. What this program offers
The Agricultural Greenhouse Gases Program (AGGP) supports projects that will create technologies, practices and processes that can be adopted by farmers to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These projects will also help farmers increase their understanding of GHG emissions.
Individual projects could receive up to $2 million of support.
Applications were accepted until July 8, 2016. This program will end on March 31, 2021.
