Canada Pavilion Program benefits agricultural businesses

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) has recently launched the Canada Pavilion Program to maximize the success of Canadian agriculture and agri-food businesses. This program is part of the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a recently launched 5-year, $3-billion federal, provincial and territorial investment in the agriculture sector. The Canada Pavilion Program simplifies trade show attendance and provides universal opportunities for industry to promote their products at the world's largest international trade shows.

Participating in trade shows can seem daunting to some producers, who may be unsure how to market their products.

The Canada Pavilion Program is offering financial support to all for-profit Canadian agricultural organizations. While small- and medium-sized enterprises are an important part of the program, businesses of all sizes are welcome and eligible to apply for support.

The Canada Pavilion Program currently runs seven flagship trade shows where agri-businesses have the opportunity to meet with potential buyers, trade commissioners and key stakeholders. The shows take place internationally and include events in Dubai (Gulfood in February), Japan (FoodEx Japan in March), Singapore (Food and Hotel Asia in April), South Korea (Seoul Food and Hotel in May), Germany (ANUGA in October), France (SIAL Paris in October), and China (Food and Hotel China in November).

These trade shows present an unparalleled business opportunity for company participants. Past exhibitors reported that 25% of all connections made at flagship events would generate future business, and, collectively, it was reported that for every dollar invested, exhibitors received $40 in revenue as a result of attending the flagship trade show.
