AgriStability: 2018 update
The initial AgriStability Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) was completed in 2009. AgriStability falls under the Growing Forward Campaign, currently funded through 2023, under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership. This PIA is designed to analyze the changes to the AgriStability Program, as well as provide an update to the risk mitigation activities identified in the 2009 AgriStability PIA.
The update was required to help ensure that all significant changes to the program’s activities and business processes occurring over the past 9 years have been assessed for potential privacy impact.
The scope of this PIA is to provide an update to the personal information protection afforded to AgriStability participant information. This included Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's collection, use, retention, disclosure and disposition of personal information in the context of AgriStability and various system updates, or new systems, that have occurred since the 2009 PIA.
Processes specific to the provincial delivery of the Program in those provinces which deliver the Program themselves (that is, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and Prince Edward Island) were not within the scope of the PIA.
AAFC’s personal information practices related to the AgriStability and the AgriInvest programs are described in AAFC Personal Information Bank AAFC PPU 183.
As a result of the PIA, measures have been determined to mitigate any risks associated with the collection of personal information.
These include: strengthening agreements, limiting the collection, access, use and retention of personal information, increasing privacy training for staff and the revision of Personal Information Bank details.
