The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau: 2019 has been a difficult year for the sector.

[A beekeeper looks over his hives. A woman fills bottles of maple syrup. A young boy sweeps a cow barn with his father.

Agriculture is a great sector for collaboration.

[Two riders on horseback corral cattle on a hillside.]

Farmers do that all the time with their neighbours…

[A group of people plant rows of new crops.]

…and it is important for us as ministers to work together as well.

[Canada's provincial and territorial ministers of agriculture, along with Marie-Claude Bibeau, stand in front of a row of provincial flags. Marie-Claude Bibeau laughs and chats with the ministers beside her.]

The Honourable Ernie Hardeman: Agriculture is a joint responsibility between two levels of government.

[Ernie Hardeman speaks to the camera.]

Text on screen: The Honourable Ernie Hardeman, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs for Ontario, FPT Co-Chair

So two levels of government have to get together and decide what needs to be done, and how we can make agriculture more prosperous and look after our farmers.

[The camera pans from a conference centre lobby to a TV screen.]

Text on screen: FPT Ministers Meeting of Agriculture

[Marie-Claude Bibeau enters the boardroom.]

I look forward to the meeting today because we have a lot on our plate, but I've got a lot of ambition for the sector.

[The music peaks, and the screen fades to black. As everything goes quiet, we fade back in on Marie-Claude Bibeau seated at the head of the boardroom table.]

Good morning, colleagues. Bienvenue à tous.

[Marie-Claude Bibeau speaks to the camera after the meeting.]

We can feel a sincere will of collaboration amongst the ministers.

[Marie-Claude Bibeau speaks to other ministers at the head of the table.]

We have exchanges of thoughts on our concerns…

[Ministers sit in the boardroom, listening and speaking into microphones.]

…specific issues, shared best practices, and I think it was a good occasion to get to know each other, and to make it work for the coming years.

[Marie-Claude Bibeau speaks to meeting participants.]

I really look forward to our meeting in July, because this was a first step today.

[Ernie Hardeman speaks to the camera.]

The Honourable Ernie Hardeman: Today is evident that both levels of government are there to help, and we're looking to make sure that we do everything we can in these times of need…

[A group of young workers collect wheat in a field. Two men harvest carrots. A man operates a vehicle through water for cranberry harvesting. A woman pats a cow.]

…so they will be able to move on, and look with optimism at the sun coming out next spring.

[The sun shines behind stalks of corn.]

[Fade to the Canada wordmark.]

Text on screen: Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada, represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food (2019)

[The bright orchestral music fades out.]
