Services and information
We are responsible for making sure that policies and programs of the organizations within the Agriculture and Agri-Food portfolio are coordinated and work to serve the interests of the sector and Canadians. These organizations include:
A special operating agency within Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada that regulates and oversees pari-mutuel betting on horse races to ensure it is fair for the public.
The Agency's goal is to maintain and enforce national standards based on effective betting rules, to protect bettors.
Provincial and territorial partners
Agriculture is a shared jurisdiction and federal-provincial-territorial (FPT) governments work closely in the development of agriculture policy frameworks and the delivery of programs across the country.
The Canadian Agricultural Partnership, launched in April 2018, is a five-year, $3 billion investment by federal, provincial and territorial governments to strengthen the agriculture and agri-food sector.
The Partnership features:
- simplified and streamlined programs and services that are easier to access
- key enhancements to programs that help farmers manage significant risks that threaten the viability of their farm and are beyond their capacity to manage
Below is a list of our provincial and territorial partners:
- British Columbia
- Quebec (in French only)
- New Brunswick
- Nova Scotia
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- Prince Edward Island
- Northwest Territories
Meetings and conferences of federal, provincial and territorial ministers of agriculture are held frequently to collaborate on agricultural policies, priorities and programs across Canada.
