Executive Talent Management

Introduction

The Agriculture and Agri-Food (AAFC) Executive Talent Management (EX TM) initiative aims to effectively manage executive talent at the EX-01 to EX-05 levels within the organization. The initiative is delivered by Human Resources Branch (HRB), Executive Group Services (EGS) and the information collected is shared in report form with senior management and used to help identify and address talent gaps, identify learning and development needs of the executive community and critical positions that must be filled in a timely manner to avoid creating vulnerabilities for the organization.

Objective

As the EX TM process involves the collection and management of personal information, a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) was conducted to determine if there were any privacy risks, and if so, to make recommendations for their resolution or mitigation.

Description

The scope of the PIA was restricted to the business process and basic data flows of personal information associated with the administration of the AAFC EX TM process. The PIA addressed AAFC's use of personal information transferred from the TBS EX TM database and the information sourced from within the department. In addition, it addressed retention, disclosure and disposal of personal information in the context of the AAFC EX TM process.

Personal information collected in the EX TM process is described in Standard Personal Information Bank (PIB) PSU 934, EX Talent Management.

Conclusion

Measures have been determined to address outstanding privacy concerns including determining retention and a revision of privacy notices.
