DATE

The date is in the format YYYYMMDD. This date is always a Saturday. The prices included in this record are the prices which were in effect during the seven days of data up to and including the date of the record (i.e. Sunday to Saturday).

The week at the end of the year will be split in two; the first part will end on December 31st and the second part will end the following Saturday.  Each part will include its respective fraction of data. 



PROV-IN

The PROV-IN is the province in which the poultry was slaughtered.

Here is a listing of all of the origin/destination codes.  As you will notice by the coding, some of the data is aggregated to protect confidentiality.

PROV-FROM

The PROV-FROM is a province or a country from which the live product came.

  • A- For total slaughter PROV-FROM = PROV-IN.
  • B-For the slaughter of out-of-province production, PROV-FROM does not equal to PROV-IN and PROV-FROM does not equal to "I".
  • C-For the slaughter of imported product, PROV-FROM = "I".
  • Total provincial slaughter = A - (B + C)

PRODUCT CATEGORY (GROUP)

The group refers to the weight of the bird.  Different weight categories correspond to the different types of birds:

NUMBER OF BIRDS SLAUGHTERED (HEAD)
The HEAD refers to the actual number of birds slaughtered.



EVISCERATED WEIGHT (QUANTITY) and LIVE WEIGHT (LIVE) Paid For

The QUANTITY field refers to the calculated eviscerated weight of the bird. The LIVE field refers to the live weight of the bird, paid for by the processor to the producer.

The tables below outline the live and eviscerated weight categories. Please note that only head and live weight paid for data are collected from slaughter plants. Eviscerated weights are calculated from percentages of the live weight paid for.
