A special operating agency within Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada that regulates and oversees pari-mutuel betting on horse races to ensure it is fair for the public.

The Agency's goal is to maintain and enforce national standards based on effective betting rules, to protect bettors.

Mandate letters

In accordance with the Prime Minister’s guide on Open and Accountable Government, the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food sent mandate letters to each of the organizations within the Agriculture and Agri-Food portfolio, in August 2016.

The mandate letters outline the Minister’s expectations for each Agriculture and Agri-Food portfolio organization's conduct and key priorities that should be fulfilled over the course of the Government’s four-year mandate.

The publication of these mandate letters supports the Government’s strong focus on results and its commitment to openness and transparency.
