AgriStability: Treatment of Supply Managed Commodities
Business risk management (BRM) programs will provide producers of supply managed commodities with assistance for serious declines in income caused by disease or other circumstances beyond their control.
Under AgriInvest, supply managed commodities are not covered. However, participants who produce both supply managed and non-supply managed commodities may be eligible for AgriInvest, based on their non-supply managed commodities.
To calculate the payment, the participant's allowable net sales (ANS) will be reduced by the percentage of the operation that is supply managed.
Under AgriStability, producers of supply managed commodities will receive the same coverage provided to producers of non-supply commodities. AgriStability benefits will be paid when a producer's program year margin declines more than 30% below their reference margin.
Also included in the new suite of BRM programs is AgriRecovery - a new disaster relief framework which federal and provincial governments can use when disaster occurs at a regional level. AgriRecovery can be used to cover gaps in payments through existing BRM programs.
